Obituary for Lula V. Cook "Kit" Dirton

Mrs. Lula Cook Dirton or, as we lovingly called her, “Mrs. Kit”, was born on March 10, 1933, in Pelzer, South Carolina, to the late Sam and Ann Townes Cook. At an early age, she attended Flat Rock Baptist Church.

She enjoyed fresh flowers, a clean, very clean house, and most importantly, caring for her family. She welcomed all the neighborhood children into her home and made them all a part of her family - so many children and so much love.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories are five daughters, Melanie Dirton, Gloria Clark, Rachel Jenkins, and Angela Cruell,, Darline Williams, all of Greenville, SC; two sons, Rickey Dirton of the home, and Chris (Tawanna) Dirton of Greenville, SC; three sisters, Gussie Beal of Greenville, SC, Margaret Raines of Summit, MS, and Bobbie Jo Rose of Falmouth, MA; one brother, Rudolph (Ruth Ann) Cook of Pelzer, SC; twenty-two grand-children; thirty-three great-grandchildren, a large number of nieces and nephews; and other special relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Stan and Mitch Dirton; one grandson, Javarris Cruell; three sisters, Dorothy Giles, Ruby Scott, and Mildred Godfrey;and three brothers, Sam Cook, Jr., Bill Cook, and Wayne Cook.
