Obituary

Mrs. Doris Glenda Jones-Franklin was born in Greenville, South Carolina, on October 30, 1934, and she departed this life on Thursday, March 28, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Leonta Stoddard and the sister of Sydell Jones of Greenville, S.C.

As a young girl she became a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was baptized and began her Christian journey. She later became a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where she served for many years as a Pastor’s Aide, missionary, and church florist beforereturning back to Friendship later in life. Her home, kitchen, arms, and heart were always open to anyone in need. She retired from Kemet as a lab technician and went on to work at Dow Brand and the U.S. Postal Service before owning her own business.

She earned a high school diploma from Fuller Normal, class of 1952, and returned to school many years later to receive a certification in floral design. She was the Sole Owner and Operator of Silk Eucalyptus & Some, “making the world beautiful”. She turned her passion into a business giving her grandchildren a first-hand example of entrepreneurship that will last for years and years to come.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis R. Franklin. She leaves behind four children, Cynthia Young, Ephraum (Tomasa) Franklin, Calvin (Joannitha) Franklin, and Jennifer Jones.

Her legacy lives on through 4 generations starting with her oldest son, Ephraum Franklin, continuing with his oldest son, Kevin Franklin, his oldest son, Jabari Franklin, and his oldest son, Jamari Franklin. She has a host of grandchildren, great -grandchildren, great-great grand-children, nieces, extended family, and friends that will surely miss her.
