Mrs. Adline “Judy” Vernon Freeman of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on January 3, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Johnny Vernon and Elizabeth Blassingame Vernon.
She joined the Fairfield United Methodist Church at a young age. In 2001, she began attending the Rock Hill Baptist Church #1, where she was member of the Senior Ministry. She often would make it known of any members that had not been seen in church on Sundays, this was a passion of hers, not a position. She was a retiree of Fluor Daniels Corporation.
She loved making people happy; her infectious smile would capture your heart immediately. She loved to cook and was good at it, and often would be found carrying her neighbors some of her famous dishes. Sewing was something that she loved to do also. She nurtured her family in becoming entrepreneurs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, James I. Freeman, Sr.; and two brothers, L.V. Vernon and John E. Vernon.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are two daughters, Patricia A. (Amos) Herbert and Linda F. (Michael) Downs, both of Piedmont; one son, James I. (Wanda Gary) Freeman, Jr., of Greenville; aunts, Shirley Simpson and Laura Rhome, both of Easley and Emma lee Williams of Greenville; an uncle, B.F. (Sandra) Blassingame of Easley; five grandchildren, LaShonn (Randy) Edmunds, Celeste (Mike) Wallace, Antoine Freeman, Monique Downs, and Chabraya Sullivan; eleven great-grandchildren, Charmayne, Alexia, Isaiah, Jurrien, Chanden, Myla, Symone, Londyn, Micah, Bella and Dallas; sisters-in-law, Oree Vernon, Nancy Young and Shirley Young; brother-in-law, Bobby Freeman; a special niece, Elaine Vernon; her caretakers, Charmayne Edmunds, Oree Vernon and Lollie Grant; and a host of other relatives and friends.
