Alice Hicks

Mrs. Alice Mahaffey Gibson Hicks was born on August 12, 1922, to the late John Henry Mahaffey and Maude Croft Mahaffey. She was married to the late Addison Hicks. Sr.

She was a graduate of Sterling High School in Greenville, SC. Alice worked many years and retired from John D. Hollingsworth on Wheels, Inc. She joined Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized at a young age. She served as a Sunday School teacher, a Trustee, a Nurse, an Usher, a Missionary and a Deaconess.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Addison Hicks, Sr.; her siblings, Elizabeth M. Lake, John Henry Mahaffey and Lucille M. Scott; a niece, Carolyn Hood; a nephew, Randolph Scott, Sr.; and a stepson, Alonso Hicks.

Left to cherish fond memories are her nieces A. Denise Franklin of the home, Judy (James) Jones, A. LaShun (Walter Sr) Franklin, Maria S. Johnson and Louise Mahaffey, all of Greenville, SC, Patricia (Sammy) Yeargin of Mauldin, SC and Darlene Scott of Piedmont, SC; a nephew, Talmadge (Anneka) Scott of Dallas, GA; two stepsons, Addison Hicks, Jr., and Reginald (Eida) Hicks, both of Piedmont, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
