Ms. Alma Jean Johnson Alexander, 60, departed this life on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, South Carolina. She was a daughter of the late James Calvin and Jo Ann McCullough Johnson.
She attended Greenville County public schools and was a graduate of Rutledge College where she obtained her certification as a Data Processor. She was last employed as an associate for Cryovac Sealed Air Corporation. Although she still remained on the roll of Piedmont Manor Baptist Church as a lifelong member, Alma was affiliated with New Jerusalem Church, “The Triumphant Church” in North Charleston, South Carolina, for the last five years of life. She often talked to the Pastor about becoming part of the Ministers in Training Program. She accepted the call of God on her life to share His gospel and was an astute student of the word of God. During one stay as a resident, she taught bible studies on occasion at Heartland RehabilitationFacility in Charleston, where many of the staff and residents penned a book with their “Thank You” notes of love to her for the encouragement she gave to them. Alma was known for her feisty vigor as well as the faith she had in her Lord at every rehabilitation center and hospital that she visited. One of her favorite pastimes was writing.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are one daughter, Trimeka Johnson (James Fields, Sr.) of Summerville, SC; two grandsons, Kylin Johnson and James Fields, Jr., both of Summerville, SC; seven sisters, Bobbie Jean Johnson and Betty Jean Johnson, both of Greenville, SC, Flora (Bryant, Sr.) Staples of Greensboro, NC, Dora Holmes of East Upper Marlboro, MD, Sarah Holmes of Landover, MD, Linda (John) Jennings of Clinton, MD, and Carol (Reggie) Pitt of Baltimore, MD; one brother, James (Harriett) Johnson of Mauldin; and a host of other relatives and friends.
