.Mrs. Anna Rose Joyner Davis, was born on November 27, 1920, in Varnville, South Carolina, to the late William “Buck” Wright and Minnie Joyner. She departed this life on June 10, 2018, in her home at 30 Mayo Drive in Greenville, South Carolina.
She was a housewife and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James S. Davis; two sons, James Davis, Jr., and Charles Davis; a grandson, Eric Lake; and four brothers, Walter Joyner, Roy Joyner, James Joyner and Roosevelt Joyner.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are three daughters, Willia M. Davis of Bronx, NY, Joan E. Davis of Greenville, and Gail D. Watkins (Tommy) Nelson of Piedmont; one son, Rev. Harry (Minnie) Davis of Taylors; granddaughter raised in the home, Hope; great-grand-daughters, Shianna and JaDora; great-grandson, Jeremiah; twelve other grand-children; twenty-four great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grand-children; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A very loving woman, Mrs. Davis had a favorable, encouraging effect upon all whose lives she touched. Everyone has their own personal story of her that they can share. She had a deep desire for a greater understanding. She also had an awesome thirst for the knowledge of God and the words of God.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Davis’ creative abilities and her constant desire for learning enabled her to master numerous skills, from sewing to making ceramics.
