Asiaonna Wallace

June 6, 2000 — May 1, 2018

Asiaonna Shi’Braille Zi’Kelia Wallace was born June 6, 2000, at the Medical University of South Carolina. Born with Complex Congenital Heart Disease, Asia had to fight for her life from the moment she was born, having open heart surgery three days after birth. Asiaonna would continue this fight day after day, going to countless doctors and having procedure after procedure just to stay alive. Asiaonna was a very special and unique young lady. She was born with a heart of gold and a personality so infectious your heart melted when you met her. She had an amazing ability to light up a room when she walked in. Asiaonna appreciated the simple things in life, like breathing and walking, the simple things we often take for granted every day. No matter what obstacles she had to face, Asiaonna did it with a smile. She was poked on, prodded on, and even wheelchair confined, as she developed more medical issues on her journey; however, she continued smiling, fighting, hoping and praying. Asiaonna met every new obstacle with more vigor and more fight until the afternoon of April 30, 2018. Back at the same place she was born, she looked at her mom and said, “Mom, I’m tired, I’m not strong anymore.” Asiaonna departed this life in the early morning hours of May 1, 2018.

Asia attended Liberty High School, and was in the eleventh grade. She was also a member of Changing Your Mind Ministry, in Greenville, South Carolina. She loved her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her mother, Tanga Lewis (Paul Woods) of Liberty, SC; her fathers, Andre’ Workman of Greenville, SC, and Zackary Wallace (Biological) of Spartanburg, SC; three sisters, Arianna Workman, Atianna Workman, and Andrea Workman, all of Greenville, SC; four brothers, Andre’ Workman Jr, Sincere Lewis, Ammon Workman, and ShaMundre Workman, all of Greenville, SC; grandmothers, Nina Hawthorne of Greenville, SC, and Vanessa Wallace of Newberry, SC; grandfather, Charles Sims of Newberry, SC; an uncle, Thomas Hawthorne (Quincentia Armstrong) of Greenville, SC; aunts, Corenthia Flemming (Jeremy Moton) of Greenville, SC, Tameka Smith of Greenville, SC and Mimi Smith of Greenville SC; two best friends, Shatoya Rayford and Yasmine Madison, both of Greenville, SC; and a host of relatives and friends.
