Mr. Azaveon Tavarus Raheem “Zay” Cook, 21, passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2017, in Greenville. Born in Greenville, South Carolina, he was a son of Marcus Blakley and Temeka Cook Sligh.
“Zay” was a 2015 graduate of Woodmont High School and was employed as a forklift driver at Reynolds Company.
He was a member of the Rock of Ages Baptist Church. He played football with the Freetown Cowboys, Sterling Tigers and Woodmont High School. He was an aspiring artist who wrote and recorded his own music.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories, in addition to his parents: four brothers, Eterian Blakley, Treves “Isaih” Neil, Marquez Sligh, Jr., and Marquven Sligh, all of Greenville; maternal grand-parents, L.C. (Minnie) Jackson of Piedmont; paternal grandparents, Loresa Blakley of Greenville and Lawrence H. (Betty) Blakley of Greenville; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Hill; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
