Barbara Smith

Ms. Barbara Ann “Barb” Smith was born September 12, 1952, to the late Arthur Sr., and Emma Beasley Smith and departed this life on November 26, 2019, at St. Francis Hospital. She was a graduate of Carver High School and Greenville Technical College.

She enlisted in the United States Army, and after being honorably discharged, she went on to work at Charles Lee Center for over ten years, then she moved to Lanham, Maryland where she worked for Ardmore Enterprise Company for over twenty years. Her last job was with Salvation Army through Goodwill.

Barbara was a faithful member of Queen Street Baptist Church, where she participated in the Usher Board Ministry. She had a kind and gentle spirit, and exemplified the love of God.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Rose Chestnut and Shirley Ann Smith; two brothers, James Smith and Arthur Smith, Jr.; two nieces, Emma Jean Sloan and Tina Gary; and one nephew, Arthur Proctor.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are one sister, Catherine (Kenneth) Anderson of Spartanburg, SC; one brother, Willie (Dorothy) Smith of Boiling Springs, SC; her caregiver, Paytrene D. Sloan-Fair; three nieces; four nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends
