Mr. Bernard Alexander Jones, 61, departed this life on Friday, January 6, 2017, at Greenville Health System. He was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and was the son of Dorothy Jones Footman and the late Charles Collier.
He was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School. Bernard served in the United States Marine Corps for almost a decade and trained as a chef. After his military career he worked as a chef in many of Greenville’s most prestigious restaurants and country clubs. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor and his contagious laughter.
Left to cherish fond memories are his mother, Dorothy Jones Footman of Mauldin; one son, Bernard Hawthorne of Green-ville; one granddaughter, Mashaya Sullivan and a host of other relatives and friends.
