Mr. Braxton Murray Blassingame, 80, of Easley, South Carolina, was born on January 19, 1939, and departed this life on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, at Prisma Healthcare Upstate. He was the seventh child of the late James Clifton Blassingame and Willie Mae Nesbit Blassingame.
He was educated in the Easley School System, including Simpson Elementary and Clearview High Schools. Braxton was a retiree of Alice Manufacturing Company. He professed a love for Christ at an early age, and joined the Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church.
He was joined in holy matrimony to Lula Ann Walker early in his life and to this union, two sons were born, James Patrick and Eric Blassingame. After her demise, he met and married Carolyn Hallums Blassingame and this union continued until his death.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Blassingame; and four brothers, Junior Blassingame, Samuel Blassingame,Truman C. Blassingame and Robert Nesbitt.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his wife, Carolyn Hallums Blassingame of the home; two daughters, April Hallums of Detroit, MI, and Belinda (Mike) Wofford of Greenville; two sons, James P. Blassingame of Easley, and Eric Blassingame of Piedmont; two sisters, Dorothy (Willie) Simon of Chicago, IL, and Sylvia Jones of Greenville; one brother, Charles Blassingame of Columbus, OH; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a special niece, Emily Scott of Greenville, SC; his mother-in-law, Pauline Hallums of Detroit, MI; three sisters-in-law, Beverly (Doc) Heath of Detroit, MI,, Hazel Coleman of Philadelphia, PA, and Audrey (Cornell) Kimbrell of Albany, GA; a brother-in-law, Lavel (Debra) Hallums of Orlando, FL; one aunt, Venice Jenkins of Chicago, IL; a special friend, Charles Hill of Charlotte, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
