Calvin Edwards

February 24, 1928 — January 20, 2016

Mr. Calvin Nelson Edwards, Sr., 87, departed this life on January 20, 2016. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late William Anderson and Ola Scott Edwards.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Freddie Jean Washington Edwards. He was a lifelong member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Taylors, SC. He served as a member of the United Methodist Men, Lay Leader, Treasurer, and Wels Club of John Wesley UM Church.. He was also a member of Mt. Pleasant Lodge #389.

He was the youngest and last surviving member of 11 siblings. He was also predeceased by a son, William A. Edwards and a grandson Charles Patrick Edwards. He was married to the late Freddie Jean Edwards for 61 years.

Left to treasure fond memories are his daughters, Winifred Edwards Simpson of Simpsonville, SC and Carol Edwards Allen of Greenville, SC; sons, Calvin N. “Ed” (Patricia) Edwards, Jr. of Greenville, SC and Charles F. “Chuck”(Pretrenia) Edwards of Mauldin, SC; sister-in-law, Barbara Holloway; eleven grandchildren, Gigi A. (Robert) Fisher, Elizabeth S. (Larry) Rasberry, Tres (Tiffany) Simpson, Demian (Joana) Edwards, Marc (Dionne) Allen, April Simpson, Courtney A. (Hari) Nathan, Ashlee E. (Jason) Tolbert, Geoffrey (Samantha) Edwards, Cesley Edwards and Logan Edwards; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
