Carla Denise Townzel

Ms. Carla Denise (Pearson) Townzel, 59, of Greenville, South Carolina, died on Tuesday, June 

3, 2024 at her home.  She was born November 13, 1964 in Charleston, Missouri the 

daughter of Ernest and Almetta Pearson Sr.  

Carla graduated from Davenport Central High School and received her cosmetology 

license from La James School of Cosmetology.  

Carla enjoyed listening to music, playing cards, cooking, watching comedy shows, and 

cosmetology.   She was witty, supportive, protective, enjoyed others, and always had a big 

smile.  Carla lived her life to the fullest.     

Survivors include sons, Tyrae Townzel Jr; Terell Townzel, Davenport, Iowa; daughter, 

Tyshianique Townzel, Greenville, South Carolina; grandchildren: Claire, Tyrea III, Melody, 

Latrel, Harmony, Trenton, and Jax Townzel;  Ta’Shaun Harris; Eli Jones; step 

granddaughter, K’Shawna Poe; mother, Almetta Pearson, Davenport, Iowa; brothers Ernest 

Pearson Jr and Scott (Julie) Pearson, Davenport, Iowa; sister Doris (Dennis) Steverson, 

Davenport, Iowa; brother Norman (Cynthia) Pearson, Springfield, IL; and sister, Vickie 

(Patrick) Wickersham, Silvis, IL and a host of nieces, family, and friends. 

Carla was proceeded in death by: her father, Ernest Pearson Sr.; son Tyree Townzel; sister, 

Wanda Lenoir; and grandparents Norman and Hattie Moore.  

A celebration of life will be held for Carla on June 15, 2024
