Mr. Carol Hill

Carol Hill, "The Godfather of District 25," passed on to his final reward at the Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson, SC on the evening of January 7th, 2025. 80 years old, Carol was born on February 17th, 1944 to the late Prue and Paul D Hill.

 Carol spent his whole life in service to others. After leaving the Navy with a Honorable Discharge, he spent 20 years working in the Postal Service, eventually running for the Presidency of it’s National Alliance of Postal and Federal Employees union. Along with his Brother, the late Paul Hill, and others, he created the Positive Dads group which has helped reshape how Fathers work with the legal system to resolve Child Support challenges and related issues.

 Later in life, he organized the 1st meeting, and gave the name to The Piedmont Athletic Association Hall of Fame, which honors athletic excellence from historical Black High Schools in the Upstate. In another efforts to support Historically Black Education, Carol provided critical organizational support to Greenville’s Fuller Normal school. He did these things while also working as a host at the Waffle House.

 Carol gained the title "The Godfather of District 25" thru his constant activism for the area. Among many efforts, he was always at the City Council meeting speaking on behalf of the community and its needs. He also wrote and spoke about sports all his life, including as a guest sport writer for the Community Informer newspaper.

 Having joined Reedy Fork Baptist Church in Simpsonville at an early age, he also became an ordained minister under the supervision of Rev. S. C. Cureton.

 And, among the most important people were his family. Carol was preceded in death by Donald Hill (Dorothy), Hattie Wharton (Clent), Shirley Skinner (Ardes), the aforementioned Paul Hill (Bernice), Lula Wall (Charles) and Joyce Neeley (James), in addition to his ex-wife Patricia Westfield.

 Carol leaves memories with his sisters Betty and Barbara and a brother Juan Hill raised in the home, along with 2 sons with Patrica, Woodrow and Marcus.

 Memorial Services will be at 4PM on February 9th , 2025 at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary in Greenville, SC.
