Mrs. Carolyn Rucker Sloan, 75, closed her eyes on this side and awoke to see a beautiful heaven on Saturday, December 12, 2015, at her home. She was born on July 18, 1940, to the late Artis and Vernell Craig Rucker.
At the age of 11, she went to live with her Uncle Hasco and Aunt Bernice Craig. She received her education in the public schools of Pickens County.
She was employed with Swirl Manufacturing, Ohio Gear, and Fiber Industries. She was also a former member of the AFROMC Club of Easley, SC.
At an early age, she joined New Foundation Missionary Baptist Church and attended faithfully until her health declined.
She was married to the late Bobby Joe Sloan. To this union two children were born, Bobby Mitchell and Michael Anthony Sloan, both of whom preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: one granddaughter, LaToya Nicco Robinson of the home; one great-grandson, KeJuan Mitchell Brown of the home; a loyal and devoted companion, Billy Martin of the home; one sister, Marilyn Rucker of Baltimore, MA; two cousins raised in the home with her, James W. Craig and Daniel A. Craig of Easley, SC; a god-daughter, Monica (Lloyd) Williams of Easley, SC; two nieces, Audrey Terrell of Springfield, MA, and Minister Cheryl (Cliff) Daniels of Ormond Beach, FL; two aunts, Rev. Lorene Ackerson of Easley, SC and Rev. Notre’ Craig of Easley, SC.; a faithful confidant, Michael (Sheila) Craig and one of her devoted caregivers, Crystalyn Dogan. She also leaves numerous other family and friends to celebrate and keep her memories alive.
