Charles Garrett

.Mr. Charles Benjamin Garrett, 68, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Sunday, May 29, 2017, at Greer Rehabilitation. He was born in Greenville and was a son of the late John Henry and Mary Ellen Wilson Garrett.

Charles was educated in the Greenville County School System and received an associate degree in Real Estate from Greenville Technical College. He was the first black clothes salesman at the former Meyers-Arnold Department Store. He was a veteran of the United States Army, served in the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart. Charles was a member of Mount Emmanuel Baptist Church in Greenville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, David Lee Garrett and John Albert Garrett and one nephew, Michael Littlejohn.

Left with many fond memories are a sister, Mary E. (Edward) Littlejohn of Edenton, NC; brothers, Eugene Garrett and William C. Garrett, both of Greenville; one niece; seven nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
