Mr. Charles William “Big C” Poole, Sr., of 12 Cain Street, Greenville, South Carolina, was born December 2, 1949, to the late James and Maybell Poole. After a long-term illness, he departed this life on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Bon Secours Health System.
Charles was a faithful member of the Queen Street Baptist Church where he sang in the Male Choir until his health began to decline, and he was a former coach for the ladies’ softball team. He also attended Friendship Baptist Church with his sister and brother-in-law until his health no longer allowed him to attend.
He was a retiree of the Greater Greenville Sanitation Commission, where he was a truck driver for many years.
Charles was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Pansy Lee Downs Poole; a daughter, Valarie Downs Poole Fleurmont; two brother, John James and Eddie Poole; and a sister, Frances Cannon.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are a son, Charles W. Poole, Jr., of Greenville, SC; a daughter, Nishia Poole of Greenville, SC; three sisters, Martha Sheppard, Margie (George) Smith, both of Greenville, SC and Bobbie Jean Downs of Gray Court, SC; four grandchildren, Cekethia White, Andre White, Sandquinetta Gossett and Khadijah Poole; six great-grandchildren, Akeelah, Na’Zir, King, Jayden, Taylor and Jaleel; and a host of other relatives and friends
