Mrs. Christine Greene Doggett, 76, transitioned to her Heavenly home on Sunday, April 9, 2017, after a brief illness. Christine was born on May 12, 1940, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, to the late Raymond Greene, Sr., and Bueleaner Alexander Greene.
In her youth she attended Carver High School in Spindale, North Carolina and Doggett’s Grove Methodist Church in Forest City, North Carolina. Later, she married and moved to Chesnee, South Carolina, where she worked for Reeves Brothers Textile for almost 20 years before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with her family and reading the weekly announcements as the church secretary of Brooklyn CME Church and she was also the reigning Mrs. Brooklyn CME Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Preston Doggett; one sister, Margarine Greene Caldwell and one grandson, Errol Scott Doggett, Jr.
Left to cherish many fond memories are her sons, Eric Curtis (Dolly Ann) Doggett and Errol Scott (Cynthia) Doggett, both of Spartanburg, SC; brothers, Johnny Lee Greene and Raymond (Joyce) Greene, Jr., both of Forest City, NC; four grandchildren, Eric Fair of Charlotte, NC, Latasha (Eric) McElrath, Shenita (Fred) Rogers and Curtis James Doggett, all of Spartanburg, SC; thirteen great-grand children; two sisters-in-law, Birdell Freeman of Chesnee, SC and Catherine (Howard) Durrah of Inman, SC; four brothers-in-law, Raymond (Mamie) Doggett of Brooklyn, NY, Larry Doggett of Chesnee, SC, Ben (Catherine) Moore and Reginald (Vernelle) Doggett, both of Spartanburg, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends and a very special friend for over 40 years, Catherine Hughes.
