Clarence Simpson

December 31, 1969 — January 19, 2018

Mr. Clarence Eugene “Nose” Simpson, was born in Greenville, South Carolina. He was a son of Anna L. Jeter Simpson King and the late Nathaniel Simpson, Jr. He departed this life on January 20, 2018.

Clarence joined the Union Baptist Church at an early age, where he participated in the Youth Choir, Junior Deacon Ministry and was the Sunday School Superintendent. Clarence worked alongside the Deacons and Deaconesses during Vacation Bible School and wherever he was needed in the church.

He played football with the Dolphins and basketball team at the Juanita Butler Center, City of Greenville Parks and Recreation, South Carolina. He attended the public schools in the Greenville County School District, where he graduated from Wade Hampton High School. He furthered his studies at St. Augustine College, on a full ride basketball scholarship. He received an associate degree.

Clarence always had a big heart, a kind and gentle spirit. He always saw the good in everybody. He loved playing basketball for Wade Hampton High School and St. Augustine College. Clarence attained his CDL license and started to drive a semi-trailer truck over the road as he wished. He was a driver for D-N-A Truck Lines, LLC. He had a hobby of riding motorcycles and he purchased his first one in 2017, with his brother, Randy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Simpson, Jr.; one sister, Mrs. Beverly Denise Pickens; his grandparents, Blease and Alberta Rice Jeter, Nathaniel Simpson, Sr., and Virginia Simpson, Susie Sullivan and Hughes Simpson; his great-grandparents, Allen and Savannah Sullivan; and two nephews, Tyree Kesley and Jamario Simpson.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Simpson of Marion, SC; his mother, Anna L. Jeter Simpson (Joe L. Sr.) King, of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Shanna Belcher of Greenville, SC and Niyah Hopkins of Marion; three grandchildren, Caleb Martin, Christopher Kerns and Skylar Belcher, all of Greenville, SC whom he loved so very much; four sisters, Vanessa A. Kelsey and Linda M. Davis, both of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joyce Magnum and Marion D. King, both of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Randy B. Simpson of Greenville, SC and Joe L. King, Jr. of Richmond, VA; two uncles, Edward Jeter, and Lewis (Lillie) King, Sr., both of Greenville, SC; four aunts, Mary (Marion) Brown, Minister Virginia Harris, Phyllis (Cephas) Brewster and Mable Towens, all of Greenville, SC. Clarence had many friends - a host of other extended nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, who will miss him greatly.
