February 6, 1932 — February 13, 2018

The orchid is a flower of magnificence that brings a universal message of love, beauty, wisdom, thoughtfulness, luxury, and strength.

Our Family ORCHID, Mrs. Cornelia “Nita” Brown Cato, was born on February 6, 1932. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Luvenia Lomax Brown.

She made her peaceful transition to her heavenly home on February 13, 2018. Nita was uniquely dedicated to family, church and her community.

Having joined the Bruton Temple Baptist Church at an early age, she served as the church clerk , a member of the Usher board and member of the North Enoree Ushers Association. She also was a member of the NAACP and worked for over 40 years at the Voter’s Polls.

Nita was a recipient of a prestigious Mayor proclamation in recognition of outstanding community service on February 6, 2010.

“Nita” was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are: her husband, Rayford Cato of Greenville, SC; two daughters, Cheryl Renee Cato (Patrick) Amaraegbu of New Carrollton, MD, and Angie Lagail Cato of Greenville, SC; two sons, Glover Isaiah (Lois) Cato and Charles Rayford Cato, both of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren Jerrick Cato, Brandon Cato, Terra Phelps, Ryehiem Ruth and Ausha Elmore, all of Greenville, SC; nine great-grandchildren, Sierra, Jordan, Jaden, Jachai, Machai, Brandon, Braylin, Trinity and Miyale; and a host of other relatives and friends.
