On Friday, February 5, 2016, the Lord dispatched His angel down and carried away the soul of Corrine Collins Burgess, 81, of 232 Glenwood Road, Easley, SC, following a long term illness at Easley Baptist Hospital. In 1954, she married the love of her life, James Thomas Burgess, who preceded her in death.
At an early age, she joined Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church and was a faithful member until her health began to decline. She was a former member of the Women’s Day and Birthday Committees. She graduated from Clearview High School in 1952, as the valedictorian. She retired from the Pickens County School District (East End Elementary School).
She was preceded in death by a son, Juan E. Burgess; sisters, Lourie Goodine, Louise Collins, Nellie Sitton, Pauline Dukes and Bennie Mae Collins and brothers, Wade Collins and David Collins.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, daughters, Tonya Burgess of Easley, Caryn Burgess of Columbia, and Giovanna (Jerome) Geathers of Simpsonville; sons, Steven Nicholas Burgess of the home, William (Amanda) Burgess of Bristol, CT, Tommy (Sandra Clark) Burgess and Shane (Vivica) Burgess, both of Greenville; sister, Kate Williams of Easley; brother, Ben (Bessie) Collins, Jr. of Levittown PA; sisters-in-law, Thelma Alexander of Tucker, GA and Betty Stevenson of Easley; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
