Mr. Curtis Lewis “Fat Albert” Griffin, 58, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Prisma Health. He was a son of the late Ozie B. and Marilyn E. Phillips Griffin.
He attended Greenville High School and was a member of Rock Hill Baptist Church #1.
He was known for his strong, but loving personality. Even though Curtis didn’t have any children of his own, he made up for it through his nieces and nephews and his extended family throughout the Nicholtown and Fieldcrest communities.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George A. and Ruth Griffin; maternal grandparents, Mikinnly and Betty Phillips; four brothers, Charles Griffin, Author Griffin, Ozie B. Griffin, Jr., and Richard Griffin; one sister, Marilyn Griffin Floyd; two uncles, Roosevelt Griffin and Annais Griffin; two aunts, Irene Griffin and Minnie Griffin; a great-great nephew, Solomon Wright and two cousins, Freddie Griffin and Joyce Griffin.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are three sisters, Martha Griffin, Candous Griffin and Annie Durham, all of Greenville, SC; two aunts, Gladys Funderburg of Los Angeles, CA, and Mary Phillips of Charleston, SC; four uncles, George A. Griffin, Jr. of Greenville, SC, Connelle Phillips of Charleston, SC, Franklin Phillips of Wichita, KS, and Eugene Phillips of Charleston, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
