On August 18, 2018, God escorted Brother Dara Brownlee to his Heavenly home. Dara Brownlee was born December 17, 1965, at Greenville General Hospital to Annie Mae Hill and the late Arthur “Duke” Brownlee. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Vernetha Brownlee, and his twin sister, Tara Brownlee.
He graduated from J.L. Mann High School in 1984, and upon graduation he attended Benedict College in Columbia, SC. Further on, he spent a few years residing in Atlanta, Georgia, before returning home. As a child, Dara grew up as a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. In his younger adult years, he attended Rock of Ages Baptist Church, but in most recent years, Dara fellowshipped at Long Branch Baptist Church until he was called home.
Dara was a recent employee at South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Center. Growing up, he was a big sports fanatic, and he played sports himself. He also loved to dance and roller skate. He really enjoyed spending time with his family and he was active in his community. Dara was a well-rounded person, who had a profound outlook on life. Some found his words to be very encouraging.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Mae Brownlee Hill of Greenville; two sisters, Gwendolyn Brownlee of Greenville and Karena Brownlee of Charlotte, NC; two brothers, Marshall Hill and Danny Brownlee, both of Greenville, SC; three aunts, Frances Josey, Dorothy Mae Johnson, and Ethel Mae Dillard, all of Greenville, SC; two nieces, Anastasia Hall of Greenville, SC and Tara Yeargin of Charlotte, NC; one nephew, Kenyetta Brownlee of Greenville, SC; one great-niece, Mahogany Smith of Greenville, SC; two great-nephews, Quin Demus Hall and Ny’Jaylen Hall-Smith, both of Greenville, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends
