Obituary:
Mr. David “Tree” Sharperson, 73, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at River Falls Post-Acute Rehabilitation. David was born on October 21, 1948 in Greenville, SC to the late Isaac Sharperson and Minnie Durant Sharperson West.
David is survived by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Ella Arnold Sharperson; four daughters, Datrea Sharperson (Kenneth) Sims of Simpsonville, SC, Dakwsha Sharperson (Roger Freeman), Danita Sharperson, Dacaution Sharperson, all of Greenville, SC; one sister, Juanita Sharperson, of Philadelphia, PA; eight grandchildren, Gabrielle Sharperson, Domonique Sharperson, Tiara Sharperson, Angel Sims, Kenneth David Sims, Dakiyas Sharperson, Braniyah Simpson & Jasonna Lewis; seven great-grandchildren; 2 Sister In Laws Nener (Eugene) Sullivan of Greenville, SC, Elaine Kilgore of Greenville, SC, 2 Brother In Laws Paskell (Dorothy) Arnold Jr. of Greenville, SC, James (Helen) Arnold of Greenville, SC, and a host of other beloved relatives and friends.
David was raised in Philadelphia, PA then moved to Greenville, SC when he was in high school to live with his grandmother Nancy Durant. David graduated from Bryson High School and was well known across the upstate as a great legendary basketball player along with his cousin John “JuneBug” Smith. David helped Bryson win two state championships in 1965 and 1966. The only two basketball state championships in the 15 year history of Bryson High.
The Great & Legendary Bryson High School Hurricanes David “Tree” Sharperson was inducted by the PIEDMONT ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION HALL OF FAME in 2006.
David attended SC State University and also attended Southern Illinois University. David was the owner of Sharperson Ulphostery. David was a great man who left a great legacy to his 4 daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David was a fun loving man who loved to make people laugh. He will be missed by many.
Funeral Service: Saturday, June 4, 2022, 1:00pm at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary with interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
