Deacon Harold Beeks

December 31, 1969 — October 24, 2017

Deacon Harold Beeks was born in Laurens, South Carolina, on July 8, 1942, and departed this life on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. He was a beloved son of the late Luther and Inez Burton Beeks - one of three children from this union.

He was a graduate of Sterling High School and Greenville Technical College. He served in the United States Marine Corps.

At an early age he became a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a former Trustee, a present Deacon, and a member in the Male and Senior Choirs. He also served in several other positions.

He was a retired Sergeant of the Greenville Police Department. He served as President, Executive Director, and Chaplain of the Palmetto State Law Enforcement Officers Association. He also served as treasurer of the local Greenville Chapter of Palmetto State Law Enforcement Officers Association for thirty years. He was a member of the Marine Corp League. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the VFW Post #6734, the American Legion and several other organizations. During his lifetime he has received many awards.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Howard
Beeks; and a sister, Claudia Mary Beeks.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his wife, Dorothy Lindsay Beeks of the home; three daughters, Alexandria Beeks (Mark) White of Simpsonville, Antoinette Beeks of Columbia and Andricka Beeks of Greenville; two sons, Harold Beeks, II, and Christopher Beeks, both of Greenville; seven grandchildren, LeKayle Burdine, Tamazye’, G’yhani, Jayden, Christopher, Trenton and Landyn Beeks; two great-grandchildren, LeKayle, Jr. and LeKayla Burdine; four sisters-in-law, Gloria Sherred, Ruth Cunningham, Ora Lee Makins and Mildred Page; a special niece, Dawn (Allen) Cook of Greenville; two stepchildren, Harriet and Harold (Tonia) Jones, both of Columbia; five step grandchildren, seven step great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
