Deacon James Latimer

Deacon James Allen “Stax” Latimer, 86, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Patewood Health and Rehab. He was born in Abbeville, South Carolina and was the son of the late Joseph Gordon and Jesse Robinson Latimer.
“Stax” attended the public schools in Due West, South Carolina. He retired from Gaylord Container Company after 31 plus years of service. He was a veteran of the US Army.
He was a member of the New Friendship Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities; the Senior Choir, Church Treasurer for many years and former chairman of the Deacon Board.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Earleen Black Latimer; a daughter, Sheilar Allen and a grandson, James Courtney Allen.
Surviving: son, Steve Latimer of the home; and a host of other relatives and friends.
