Deacon Leroy Elrod Jr., was born in Anderson, South Carolina on June 1, 1948, to Leroy Elrod Sr. and Connie Ruth McCrary Elrod. He was a member and Deacon of Sweet Canaan Baptist Church.
He was a graduate of Sterling High School Class of 1965. He received a BA in English from Livingstone College, a Master of Education in Counseling and a Master of Education in Administration from Clemson University. He was employed by Greenville County School District before retiring after 40 years of service as a teacher and administrator.
On Thursday, August 31, 2017, Leroy departed this life at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, SC. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Byron Elrod; his daughter, Letitia Celeste Rochelle Elrod, and four sisters.
Beautiful memories will forever be shared by his wife of 50 years, Mary Mildred Cruell Elrod of Easley, his daughter, Tanya Elrod of Easley, a brother, Jeffery Fulton Elrod and his wife ,Yvette Elrod of Easley; two grand-children, Jasmine Elrod of Greenville and Emmanuel Elrod of Easley, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
