Deacon Robert Cheatham

December 28, 1939 — February 21, 2017

Deacon Robert Gonzales “Bobby” Cheatham, 77, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Atmore, Alabama, he was a son of the late Nixon Cheatham and Azalea Henderson Cheatham.

“Bobby” received a degree in Liberal Arts and was formerly employed at the South Carolina Department of Employment Security for five years and worked in hospitality in multiple Country Clubs for over thirty years.

He was on the Board of Deacons at the Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bertha Hudson and a brother, Clarence Cheatham.

Left to cherish many fond memories are his wife, Jennie Miller Cheatham of the home; children born to the union with his first wife, the late Gussie Cheatham: Dimitri Cheatham of Charlotte, NC, Dawn Cheatham of Greenville, Donald Cheatham of Charlotte, NC and Darryl (Juanita) Cheatham of Killeen, TX; stepchildren, Nida (Ricky) Harris of Greenville, and Mercedes (Pastor Kenneth) Dean of Belton; sister, Hattie Jean (Billy) Young of Piedmont; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
