Mrs. Della Jane McKinney was born in Whitmire, South Carolina, on July 25, 1930. She was a daughter of the late Arthur and Susie Whitener and was on of twenty-one children born to this union. On Sunday, October 8, 2017, she received a call from God calling her home.
Della was a Daycare Owner, she retired from Her Majesty Kids in Mauldin, South Carolina and a foster parent. She was a member of Seekwell Baptist Church in Newberry, South Carolina. Later, she became a member of Evangelical House of God Bible Teaching Center in Duncan, South Carolina, where she often sang her favorite song “Do You Know the Man from Galilee”
In addition to her parents and siblings, she is predeceased by her husband, Will Tom “W.T.” McKinney; a son, Jeffery Dean McKinney; and a grandson, Frank Harris.
She leaves to cherish many fond memories, her daughters, Cynthia Diane Jones and Phyllis Johnson (Freddie Mack), both of Whitmire, SC, Norma Darlene Locke, Laura Joyce Rice and Vanessa E. McKinney, all of Greenville, SC; sons, Steven (Pamela) McKinney, Sr., of Williamston, SC and William (Alfreda) McKinney of Greenville; a sister, Geneva Whitener (Coley) Jeter of Whitmire, SC; a foster daughter raised in the home, Michelle Williams of Greenville, SC; sisters-in-law, Gloria Whitener of Santuc, SC, May Whitener of Whitmire, SC and Ernestine Whitener of Pomaria, SC; forty-six grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; eight great great-grand-children; a special niece, Connie Clark Lawson; and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
