Ms. Delphenia Brooks (fondly known as “Dell” or “Buck”), 74, of 101 Loop Street, Greenville, quietly answered God’s call to His home on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Saint Francis Hospital surrounded by many loved ones. Born in Travelers Rest, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William Henry and Addie Faye Russell Brooks.
She was a 1960 graduate of Sterling High School. She was an active member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church in Travelers Rest. “Dell” was a member of the Ushers Ministry and Sunday Church School. She was a former life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Capt. Charles F. Gandy VFW Post #6734 and an active member of the Military Order of the Cootie Auxiliary (MOCA). She was employed at various diners in Greenville and Rich’s (Macy) Warehouse.
She provided in-home childcare for many, including Chris, Marcus, Mason, Colin, Nadia, Kingston, Travis; nephews, Lamar, Jermile and many more. Even though she had no children of her own, they always held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents along with a brother, William N. Brooks.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories: a brother; Melvin C. (Shirley) Brooks; sisters, Jerri B. (Larry) Brinkley and Angela Walker; uncle, Alvin (Catherine) Brooks; aunts, Clara Dean, Grace Bruster and Mae Charles Brooks; nephews and nieces, Fred (Wanda) Franklin, Pernell (Jackie) Franklin, Toni Jackson, Lamar (Lindsey) Walker, Jermile (Haley) Brooks, Kristi Brinkley, Alese Walker; special friends, Lawrence and Ethel Taylor and a host of other relatives and friends.
