Dera Sims

Ms. Dera Mae Sims, 60, transitioned from this side on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Patewood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Vera Louris Sims and the late Allen Sims.

She was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and attended Greenville Technical College in the Nursing Program. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.

Dera was predeceased by her father, grandmother, Lecollia Louris-Owens, brother, Melvin Louris, and several aunts and uncles.

Left with cherished memories of Dera are her mother, Vera Sims of Greenville; daughters, Carmel Sims and Angela Sims, both of Greenville; son, Darrell Sims of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Allen (Pamela) Sims and Bennie Sims, Kenneth (Datrea) Sims, all of Greenville and Eburrell (Janie) Sims of Columbia; three grandchildren, Shanafrica Gary, Michael Felder, Jr. and Zion Phillips, all of Greenville; aunts, Virginia Goldsmith, Nancy Louris and Mamie Louris, all of Pontiac, MI and Vivian Louris of Greenville; uncle, James Louris of Pontiac, MI. and a host of other relatives and friends.
