Mrs. Dorothy Beatrice Jackson Hughey was born in Florence, South Carolina. On December 30, 1942, to the late Cleo Matthew Brown Jackson and Eddie James Jackson.
She grew up in a loving household that included five sisters.Dorothy attended Wilson and Carver Elementary Schools and graduated from Wilson High School.
She was united in marriage to Samuel Hughey on October 5, 1963, and from this union came three daughters. Dorothy loved her family dearly. She was a devoted wife for 55 years.
Dorothy was a loving sister, mother grandmother, great-grand-mother and aunt. She was very devoted to her sisters and also to her children. She volunteered in the public school system for many years and also enjoyed cooking. Dorothy was a woman of dedication and faith.
Left to cherish many fond memories are her husband, Samuel Hughey of the home; three daughters, Sharia Osborne and Terria Hughey, both of Queens, NY, and Samantha Hughey of Spartanburg, SC; five sisters, Gwendolyn Jackson of Bronx, NY, Sylvia (Alfred) Wells of Florence, SC, Eddie Mae Steeps of Greenville, SC, Ophelia F. Jackson of New York, NY, and Cynthia P. Jackson of East Stroudsburg, PA; four grandchildren, Devon I Hughey Irby, Quran L. Osborne, both of Queens, NY, and Derrick S. Wilkey and Maurice A. Daniels, Jr., both of Spartanburg, SC; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
