On April 27, 2020, an angel dispatched from Heaven to bring Dorothy Mae Mattison “Dot” Turmon home, to join her Heavenly Father and her beloved husband, Willie Dee.
Dorothy (Dot) was born on January 21, 1944, to the late Walter “Mr. Buddy” and Willie Mae “Mrs. Liz” Chandler Mattison.
She was employed for over 30 years with the Foster Plant in Easley, SC, until she retired. She accepted Christ as her Savior and became a faithful member of Sweet Canaan Baptist Church, located in Piedmont, SC for many years. She served faithfully as an usher, a dedicated member of the Kitchen Staff and the Women’s Department. She was a 1962 graduate of Spearman High School in Anderson, SC.
Dot and Dee will always be remembered for their open door to family and friends, who always stopped by for a great meal and conversation. They were famous for turnip greens, macaroni and cheese and she loved fried corn. After a meal she would get dressed in something, red was her color.
She was preceded in death by her husband , Willie Dee Turmon; four brothers, John “Bo-Bo” Mattison, James Thomas “Hawk” Mattison, June “Sugar” Mattison and Jack Walter “Jim” Mattison; four sisters, Sarah Barksdale “Sate”, Lizzie Mae Cannon, Irene Mattison and Art-T Mattison; and her mother-in-law, Mary Turmon.
Dorothy “Dot” leaves to cherish fond memories: a sister, Juanita Rogers of Easley, SC; two brothers, Eugene (Anna Mae) Mattison of Easley, SC, and John Walter Hall of Greenville, SC; a great-nephew raised in the home, Gregory (Gigi) Mattison; four sisters-in-law, Jean (Ross) Bowen, Shirley (Wilbanks) Wright, Jeannette Slade, all of Easley, SC, and Dale (June) Arnold of Pickens, SC; a brother-in-law, Freddie Turmon of Easley, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives; and a very dear and special friend, Nell Sutton of Easley, SC.
