Ms. Dorothy Mae “Ms. Dot” Washington, 77, of Taylors, South Carolina, departed this life on Saturday, April 4, 2020, at Upstate Community Hospice. She was the daughter of the late Counts and Octavia Kearse Moncrieft. She resided with her daughter, Delilah and granddaughter, Sidney.
At an early age, she joined Sweet Branch Baptist Church in Govan, South Carolina.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Washington; one grandson, Javieon Mayes; six sisters, Mary Albany, Ethal Cobb, Katherine Moncrieft, Thelma Moncrieft, Rosalie Moncrieft and Maggie Walker; and two brothers, Al Moncrieft and Curtis Moncrieft.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are six daughters, Dorothy Gavin of Springfield, SC, Deborah (Arnold) Moss of Augusta, GA, Tanya Mitchell, and Margarita (Robert) Holmes, both of Greenville, SC, Delilah Looper of Taylors, SC, and Maxine Looper of Greenville, SC; four sons, Lafayette Moncrieft of Denmark, SC, Ricky Washington and Norman Washington, both of Atlanta, GA, and Sammy Washington, Jr., of New York, NY; three sisters, Margaret Kemp of Brooklyn, NY, Elise Donaldson of Denmark, SC, and Edna Mae Greggs of Winston Salem, NC; five grandchildren raised in the home, Octavia Moncrieft of Duncan, SC, Kawana Moncrieft, Reginald Moncrieft, Rodricus Moncrieft and Quantara Looper, all of Greenville, SC; seventeen other grand-children; thirty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
