On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, our loving mother, cousin, and friend, Edna Mae Brooks Floyd, slipped quietly into eternal life. She was born to the late Mrs. Leitha Austin Brooks Keith on June 10, 1927. The late Mr. George Allen was her father. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, the late Mr. Fred Floyd Jr.
She received her education in the Greenville County School system and joined the Lowndes Hill Baptist Church at an early age. She also faithfully attended and participated in activities at the St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Taylors, SC. She loved participating in all church programs and still remembered many of the speeches she recited as a child.
She will be remembered always by her eight children, eleven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, all who loved her dearly. She is survived by her children: Juanita Sitton of Greenville, SC, Theodore Floyd (Doris) of Taylors, SC, Carolyn Floyd of Hampton, VA, Gertie Smith of Greer, SC, Mary Beasley (Dwight), Sarah Floyd, and Julia Floyd, all of Taylors, SC, and Julius Floyd of Greer, SC. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Cassandra Sitton, Eric Floyd, Mitchell Sitton, Bridgett Yates (Charles), Michael Floyd, Barry Danladi (Kizzy), Marcus Beasley, Julian Floyd (Joanna), Laisia Floyd, Jasmine Smith, and Nekita Farr. Other survivors include a devoted cousin, Jimmy Brooks, who lived in the home for several years, and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.
