Rev. Elijah Richey 71, of Greenville, SC, peacefully departed this life at Greenville Health System, surrounded by the love of his family on February 4, 2016. Rev. Elijah Richey was born October 3, 1944, in Anderson, SC. He graduated from Greenville County School system and from Martin Webb Bible College. He was married to the late Bobbie Jean Richey. Rev. Elijah Richey was called to preach at the age of sixteen years old. He was a member of The Baptist Association. He was an assistant pastor of Mountain Spring Baptism Church. In 1975,
Rev. Elijah Richey became pastor of Rock of Ages for fourteen years. Many changes took place during this time. Rev. Richey and the members who remained were determined to continue working for the Lord and remained a strong family. Rev. Elijah Richey loved the Lord with all his heart. He believed in serving the Lord. He was a man of wisdom and full of love. He was funny and believed in family. Rev. Elijah Richey will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, and a cherished friend.
Rev. Richey was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Dennis Richey.
Left to cherish fond memories are a daughter, Stephanie (Cornelius) Rhodes of Greenville; sons, Elijah (Joy) Richey, Jr. of Simpsonville and Eric L. (Jessica) Richey of Fayetteville, NC; sisters, Joeann (Von) Wright, Evelyn Cruell and Emma Jean Connor, all of Greenville; brother, L. C. (Juanita) Richey of Greenville; five grandchildren, Marquis Richey, Donte Richey, Eric L. Richey, II, Keshun Rhodes, and D’Andre Rhodes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
