Essie Mae Williams

Mrs. Essie Mae “Granny” Jenkins Williams, 84, of Greenville passed on October 20, 2016, at McCall Hospice House. Born in Pickens County on October 14, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Roosevelt and Willie Faye Hunt Gambrell.

She attended Sterling High School and was a 20 year retiree of Greenville Health System. She was a member of the Mt. Olive CME Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Williams; grandson, Corey J. Jenkins and brother, William Hunt.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are daughters, Gloria Jenkins, Elizabeth Jenkins, Caroline (Rev. Nathaniel) Poole, and Gwendolyn (Ted) Florian, all of Greenville; Sharon (Rev. Kenneth) Cannon of Simpsonville, Constance (Wesley) Oneal of Travelers Rest, and Allison Mansell of Greenville; son, Roy Lee (Brenda) Jenkins, Jr. of Greenville; aunt, Nancy Louis of Pontiac, MI; uncle, Rev. Thomas Hunt of Simpsonville; fourteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; special cousin, Rozell Wright and a host of other relatives and friends.
