Flora Marie (Sullivan) Ratliff, wife of William Marvin Ratliff III, passed into her eternal life in heaven on January 16, 2016. She was born August 14, 1953, in Greenville to the late Fred Sullivan and Ella (Scott) Sullivan.
Flora attended Sterling High School and graduated from Carolina High School. She earned her Bachelor and Master of Education degrees from Furman University. She worked for the Greenville County School District for 35 years and held various positions throughout her career including educator, assistant principal, principal, and curriculum/program coordinator. After retirement she continued to work for the school district as a substitute teacher.
She was a compassionate, loving woman who enjoyed serving the Lord and her community. She was a devoted, active member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church and over the years served as pianist, treasurer, Sunday school teacher, chairman of worship, choir member, and secretary of the church’s United Methodist Women group. She was also the Social Action Coordinator for the Greenville District United Methodist Women. Additionally, she was an active member of the Greenville chapter of the Links, Inc., the Greenville chapter of Toastmasters International, and the Greenville Chapter of The Girl Friends Incorporated,®. She was an active member of the Democratic Party, where she made telephone calls and canvassed.
Flora truly was an extraordinary woman who touched so many lives. She was a pillar of the community and was cherished by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah Sullivan and her sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Sullivan.
Left to remember her love are Flora’s beloved husband of over 38 years; two children, Shannon (Gerald) Eichelberger, William Patrick (Talisha) Ratliff; grandchildren, Jalen, Anaya , and Victoria Eichelberger; her mother; two sisters, Regina (Antonio) Cephas, Bonita (Thomas) Bookhart; four brothers, Elbert Sullivan, Fred (Jennifer) Sullivan, Tino (Stephanye) Sullivan , Michael (Nury) Dial; mother-in-law, Louise Ratliff, and sister-in-law, Angela Ratliff, both of Greenville, SC and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
