Mrs. Frances Chapman Ashmore, 87, of 318 Elder Street Extension in Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on March 18, 2017. She was born October 19, 1929, to the late Orya and Mandy Hagood Chapman.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a member of Young Laymen Temple CME Church, where she served faithfully in the Senior Choir, Stewardess Board, Missionary Society and was the Mother of the church.
She was predeceased by a brother, Albert Chapman; a son, Sammy Ashmore and a granddaughter, Melissa McMahan.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: three daughters, Carolyn Griffin, Mary A. Hailstock and Alice (Melvin) Bailey and one son, Henry Ashmore, all of Greenville, South Carolina; a grandson raised in the home, Jamar Ashmore and eight other grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; a faithful cousin, Annie Stephens and a faithful niece, Alice Hill, both of Greenville, South Carolina; a goddaughter, Mary Irby of Columbia, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins,
