Gennie Cox

Mrs. Gennie Ruth Drummond Mayes Cox, 91, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Monday, March 9, 2020, at McCall Hospice House. She was a daughter of the late Roosevelt and Irene Griffin Drummond.

She retired from Augusta Circle School as a dietician. She attended Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Lee Drummond Loures; and two brothers, James Drummond and Willie Lee Drummond.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are her husband, James Cox of the home; three daughters, Janice Cox, Ethel Mayes Smith and Andra Mayes, all of Greenville; two sons, Charles Lee Mayes of Greenville and Johnny (Mary) Mayes of Simpsonville; two sisters, Irene Garrison of Greenville, and Maggie Drummond (Johnny) Wright of Simpsonville; fifteen grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grand-children; other relatives and friends.
