Mr. George Edward “Big Daddy” Redmond, 67, transitioned from this side on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. Born in Laurens County on January 21, 1948, he was the son of the late George and Susie Mae McCullough Redmond.
Big Daddy was a 1966 graduate of Joseph E. Beck High School. He formerly worked as a diesel mechanic and a truck driver. He was a member of Open Heart Baptist Church where he sang in the male chorus. He was also a member of the Upstate Birdie’s Golf Club. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Samuel Lee Redmond and sisters, Clara Redmond Huggins, Annie Lou Edge and Shirley Norman.
Surviving: wife, Mary Tate Redmond of the home; daughters, Kershaundra Lutresia Redmond and Kimberly Maria Redmond, both of Fountain Inn, SC; son, Vernon Lamont Redmond of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters, Edith Redmond, Louise R Glenn, JoEllen R. Miller and Kirby R. Keita, all of Greenville, SC; brothers, Robert Earl (Lottie) Redmond of Piedmont, SC and John Allen Redmond of Greenville, SC; aunts, Ella Emerson of Philadelphia, PA and Agnes McDowell of Ware Shoals, SC; four grandchildren, Kierra Redmond, Zaria Redmond, Nadiya Thomas and Kaleb Thomas, and a host of other relatives and friends.
