Mrs. Harriett Louise Starks departed this earthly life on January 18, 2019, at her home in Easley, South Carolina. She was born to Maggie Johnson and Thomas Hallums.
She attended and graduated from Sterling High School in 1940, and also attended Bettis Academy in Trenton, SC, Highland Park Community College and Mary Grove College. She was a supervisor at Saks Fifth Avenue and retired after 30 years.
She was a faithful member of People’s Community Church in Detroit, Michigan. While in attendance she was president of the July Birthday Club, member of the Floral Club and served on the Ladies Usher Board. Secretary of the President’s Council for 25 years, She was known and loved by many.
Mrs. Starks, upon returning to Easley, South Carolina, reconnected with Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church. She was in faithful attendance until her health started to decline.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Emmett Starks; her only child, Jackie Crawford; a sister, Jane Davis; three brothers, William Hallums, Scuddy Hallums and Joe Hallums.
Left to cherish fond memories are a devoted niece, Pam “P.J.” (Willie) Fuller of Easley, SC; one son-in-law, Mack Crawford of Detroit, MI; two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Hallums of Alexandria, VA and Evelyn Jane Hallums of Easley, SC; two devoted great-nephews, Jason Fuller and Jeremy Fuller, both of Easley, SC; her devoted Pastor and wife, Dr. James H. Williams and Dr. Frankie Williams of the Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church Family; and a host of extended family and friends.
