Miss Inez Anderson was born November 23, 1924, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Mr. William Henry Anderson, Sr., and Jemima Lee Anderson. She departed this life Saturday, July 1, 2017, at Capstone Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Easley, South Carolina.
Inez was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Clarence Anderson, Sr., and Mr. William H. Anderson, Jr.; a nephew, Mr. Clarence Anderson, Jr., and a niece, Ms. Inez Elaine Brockman.
Inez was an active member of Long Branch Baptist Church until her health declined. She served as a member of the Missionary Society, Assistant Superintendent of the Sunday School, as well as a Youth Leader. She often reflected back on the excellent performances that were delivered by the youth. As a seamstress, she made costumes for different celebrations and holidays for the youth. She also made white robes for the Sunbeam Choir and skirts for the Junior Usher Board. As proud as she was of the youth, she shared memorable laughter with them and about them. She would often say, “What a joy it is to work with the youth.”
Inez attended Union School and graduated asValedictorian. Her speech was entitled, “Do Not Neglect the Gift that Is within You”. Later, she graduated from Sterling High School in 1940 with honors. Inez was an excellent seamstress by trade. Miss Logan was her home economics teacher at Sterling High School. She was Inez’s mentor and encouraged her to sew and do what you do with pride.
She dedicated her life to help raise her nieces and nephew when her brother, Clarence, passed away. Inez loved to read and study the bible.
She leaves to cherish many wonderful memories, two nieces, Ms. Marian E. Perry and Mrs. Barbara Sue (James) Sullivan; two great-nephews and five great-nieces; seventeen great-great-nieces and nephews; she also leaves several devoted and dear cousins. She fondly adopted as her extended family, Ms. Lonita Johnson, Mrs. Brenda Brock and Ms. Shirley Courtney as nieces. Inez would often refer to Mr. James Sullivan as the son she never had. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
She was loved and adored by many and truly will be missed. She was the Matriarch of the Anderson Family.
