Jack Browning

November 26, 1941 — April 3, 2016

Mr. Jack “Pookie” Browning Jr., 74, departed this life on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Pelham Medical Center. Born in Union, he was a son of the late Jack Browning, Sr. and Lizzie Mae Bennett Browning.

He was a retired textile worker. “Pookie” loved to sing and was a member of the Silver Trumpets, The Browning Brothers and The Gospel Crusaders singing groups. He traveled to many cities singing God’s praises, he was doing just what he loved when he transitioned from this side.

He was preceded in death Philip D. Browning and James Browning

Left to treasure many fond memories are his wife, Donna Johnson of the home; daughter, Debra Taylor of Roebuck; sisters, Min. Mae Frances Browning, Min. Debroah (Min. Willie) Crosby, both of Charlotte, NC and Helen Degraffinreid of Union; brother, Terry Steve Browning of Roebuck; three grandchildren, Mariko “Nickie” Jones of Boiling Springs, Myron Taylor of Woodruff and Lee Taylor of Charlotte, NC; four great-grandchildren; extended family of Papa Jack’s , Marquita Cureton, Nathan Cureton, Damario Cureton, Anthony Johnson and Reayanna Cureton and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
