James Virgil “Snake” Bell, age 62, of 330 Miller Road, #906, Mauldin, South Carolina, transitioned to eternal rest on February 18, 2016, at his residence. Born October 27, 1953, in Clinton, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Reverend James O. and Mrs. Daisy Bell.
He attended Fuller Normal School and Sterling High School. James became a Certified Welder upon completion of the Greenville Technical College Welding program. He was employed by Boiler Tube Company and South Carolina Steel as a Welder for 23 years. Prior to his diminishing sight, “Bell” worked for various companies including Honeywell, GE, and BMW.
James Virgil was preceded in death by his biological mother, Mrs. Ruby Bell Fitts and a brother, Mr. Andrew David Bell of Clinton, SC.
Those surviving to cherish fond and loving memories are long-time, devoted companion, Connie Robinson of Greenville, SC; one daughter, Nicole Brentisha Robinson of Greenville, SC; two sons, Damion (Miranda) Robinson of Atlanta, GA and Rico Barton of Greenville, SC; a sister, Mrs. Miriam J. Darby of Clinton, SC; four brothers, Mr. Jerome Fitts of Allendale, SC; Mr. Gene Fitts and Mr. Robert Fitts of Clinton, SC. Known as “Papa”, he leaves a legacy of love to five grandchildren, Spencer and Majesty Robinson of Greenville, SC; Jade, Quetera, and Zmari Robinson of Atlanta, GA.
In 1971, he met his extended family, the Robinsons. The late Raymond and Mary R. Robinson loved him like a son. Surviving to appreciate endless memories of birthdays, cookouts, Christmas, dinners and fun times are four sisters; Jenna Robinson, Sylvia Johnson, Daisy (Anthony) Hill, and Kim (Ken) East all of Greenville, SC; three brothers, Evans (Esther) Robinson, Kenneth (Vanessa) Robinson, and Michael (Vicki) Robinson, of Greenville, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
