Deacon James E. Boyd, 80, passed on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at his home. Born in Laurens, South Carolina, he was a son of the late J. W. and Tessie Mae Boyd.
Deacon Boyd worked as a loom fixer at the Milliken Beattie Plant and was a cotton broker for Morgan and Fayssoux Company, however, he was mostly known for his craftiness of working on lawn mowers. If it was broke look to him to make it work again.
He was a faithful member of the Shady Oak Baptist Church where he served on the Deacons Ministry for numerous years.
Left to treasure so many fond memories of this great man are his wife; Dorothy Jones Boyd of the home; daughters, Michelle (Eddie) Greer of Greenville, Teresa (Freddie) Burdine of Greenville, and Diane Ballard of Laurens; sons, Robert E. Boyd of the home and James Ferguson of Columbia; brother, Melvin C. (Rose) Boyd of Columbia; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
