James Harold Earl

October 2, 1952 — December 16, 2019

Mr. James Harold "Penny" Earl, Sr., 67, son of the late John B. & Grace Elizabeth Earl was born in Greenville County, South Carolina on October 02, 1952. He was the 3rd child of six children. The first sibling to depart this life on December 16, 2019.

During his childhood & more recently he joined the Earl Family “Home Church” of Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Piedmont, SC.

James attended Carolina High School in Greenville, SC and was very active in sports during his tenure. Receiving several awards and accolades,including “All-American” for his participation in Varsity Football, Baseball, Basketball, and Track & Field.

“Penny” then went into the Armed Forces, serving in the United States Army for a period of 4 years at bases located in Germany & Texas.

He was employed with & retired from Duke Energy (formerly Duke Power) where he was the Supervisor over Davey & Asplund Tree sub-contractors for 15+ years.

His favorite past times were playing golf , enjoying his favorite college team CLEMSON and other sports with his brothers and spending time with his childhood friends & family.

He will fondly be remembered by his children as fun loving dad, always having a piece of advice or an anecdote/story to share.

Surviving: two daughters, Ericka King of Atlanta, GA, and Carmen (Marcus) Blandin of Mauldin, SC; two sons, James Harold Earl, Jr., of Anderson, SC, and Christopher Richardson (Jameka) Earl of Rialto, CA; one sister, Lenora (Calvin) Turner of Camden, SC; four brothers, Jerry Earl of Pelzer, SC, John Earl of Detroit, MI, David (Mary) Earl of Greenville, SC, and Thomas (Agnes) Earl of Piedmont, SC; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other relatives and friends.
