On Monday December 3, 2018, God called James home at the age of 78. To most, he was called “Pop” and to his grandkids, he was called, “Poppa”. James was born on August 20, 1940, a son of Irene Harris Miles.
James attended Fuller Normal School in Greenville, South Carolina, and was a brick mason. He loved to go fishing and cook.
He was preceded in death by his fathers, Harvey C. Miles and George Burnside; his wife, Willena Miles and a great-grandson, Ja’Qua Wheeler.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Irene Harris Miles; three daughters, Evelyn Irby, Elaine (Calvin) Williams and Cynthia Griffin, all of Greenville; three sons, James Edward Miles, Jr.(Evelyn) of Newberry, Michael Anthony(Tangerine) Miles of Spartanburg and Fredrick (Tiffany) Miles of Greenville; six sisters, Alberta (Otis) Taylor, Debra (Elmer) Burnside, Dorothy (Willie) Aiken, Gwendolyn (Sherwood) Earle, Patricia Miles Arnold and Lyla Mae Martin, all of Greenville; six brothers, Calvin (Ollie) Miles, David (Mattie) Miles, Charles Miles, Harold (Doris) Miles, Harvey Jerome Miles (Pamela), all of Greenville, and William (Sandy) Miles of Anderson; four grandchildren raised in the home, Shuquna KeeKee Miles, Fredricka Miles, Demarcus Lewis and Jerrica Griffin; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grand
child; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
