James Thompson

Mr. James Ernest Thompson was born October 7, 1951, in Greenville, SC, to the late Otto Thompson and Della Cox Gray. He was raised by his stepfather, the late George Gray. He went home to be with our Lord on Monday, April 13, 2020, at Heartland Health East.

James was a former employee of Greater Greenville for many years. He was a devoted father, brother, uncle and friend.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Ricky Gray; and one sister, Yvonne Nadine Gray.

He leaves to cherish many fond memories; one son, Jeffery Simmons of Greenville, SC; two sister, Gladys Gray of Greenville, SC, and Beverly Thompson of New Jersey; four brothers, Min. Calvin (Barbara) Thompson, George Gray, Jimmy (Cassandra) Gray and Dwight Gray, all of Greenville, SC; five grandchildren; five aunts, Dorothy Starks of Brooklyn, NY, Sarah Allman, Effie Mae Simpson, both of Travelers Rest, SC, Linda Faye Gray, Willie Ree Gray, both of Greenville, SC; a truly devoted friend, Arbin “Buggy” Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
