Jason Lamont Bryant, 40, made his final transition on the night of August 31st, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he resided in Piedmont, SC for most of his childhood and adult life.
James Bryant, Sr. and Jeannette Bryant really did give birth to a legend, an absolute shining star and a jewel of a human being.
Jason is survived by his father, James Sr., his mother, Jeannette, his elder brother, James (Elisabeth), his sisters Jeri (David), Janeen, Jamela, his five beloved nieces and nephews: Spenser, Jordan, Ari, Benton, baby Nora and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. His goddaughter Emily also held special place in his heart. Jason loved his family and supported them in all ways. As much as he loved children, Jason did not have any offspring of his own.
As a student, a performer, an educator, a mentor, and a friend; Jason has been an integral part of the Greenville theater scene for over twenty years. Although a proud Woodmont Wildcat, Jason spent many hours at the Fine Arts Center where he made lifelong friends and honed his craft. During this time, he had his first foray into the Upstate Shakespeare Festival, but certainly not his last. The Warehouse Theatre became a home away from home for Jason and he realized that he wanted to share his art. A graduate of Clemson University, Jason applied his degree in performing arts to teach the joy of acting to students of all ages.
Mr. Jason was a beloved teacher and friend at the South Carolina Children’s Theatre for over 15 years. Outreach efforts with the Anti-Bully Project also helped children all over the region learn about compassion and his big heart. The embodiment of pure joy, Jason helped keep the party going in Downtown Greenville by serving as staff at Wild Wings since the year 2000.
As an organ donor, Jason chose to give even more. Even in his final transition, Jason was still giving of himself.
